CEBU - As part of its preparations for its hosting of the upcoming provincial sports meet, the municipal government of Liloan requested the Cebu provincial government to help it in the repair of 11 public schools that would be used during the weeklong event.
Liloan Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco said the schools will serve as quarters for athletes and school officials from other municipalities and cities during the event that would be held next month.
Among the public schools that will be recipients of the P2.2-million aid sought from the Capitol are Jubay Elementary School, Simeon Ayuda School, Arcelo Memorial High School, Yati Elementary School, Tiltilon Elementary School, Tayud Elementary School and Calero Elementary School.
Also on the list are Liloan National High School, Catarman Elementary School, Suba Elementary School and the Liloan Central School.
“Usa kini ka dakung kalihukan sa lungsod, nga sa usa ka semana makapuno sa atong ekonomiya ug dili momenos P5 million, walay labot sa mga proyekto nga ibutang ngari sa atoa,” Frasco said.
The mayor said that hosting the province-wide sports event is considered both a challenge and an opportunity to shine for Liloan as thousands of people from Cebu’s eight component cities and 45 municipalities are expected to come to their town.
Frasco has already formed 22 committees, as well as 12 subcommittees, to take care of the preparations.
The mayor will serve as chairman of the overall management committee, which will be co-chaired by Vice Mayor Thelma Jordan, executive secretary Aljew Frasco and license inspector Hammurabi Bugtai.
The last two provincial sports meet were held in Balamban town.
