CEBU – Police arrested shortly before noon yesterday a man and his son in barangay Pulambato, Bogo City who were reportedly found to have possessed illegal numbers game paraphernalia and over P30,000 cash believed to be proceeds of the illegal game.
Neciterio Melendrez and his son, Jerome, were arrested by virtue of a search warrant dated September 26 issued by Judge Enemicio Edito of the 7th Judicial Region Branch 25 in Danao City.
Confiscated from the father-and-son tandem were 94 pieces of “masiao” tally sheets showing number combinations, five pieces jai-alai “Computer” tip sheets, eight “Speed” tip sheets, eight “Angle” tip sheets, 22 blank stubs, calculator, three pieces ballpens, three pieces notebooks containing list of masiao sales and numbers, and a pair of scissors.
Policemen from the Provincial Intelligence Bureau of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, led by Police Chief Insp. Ma. Elma de los Santos, with Police Insp. Wilfredo Pulvera and members SPO1 Renerio Masocol, Jr.; PO3 Epifanio Gonzaga, PO3 Analiza Comaling, PO2 Tiburcio Heramil, and PO2 Junar Rey Baranhan, conducted the arrest.
The conduct of arrest was done in the presence of one Vicente Mercide, a barangay tanod of the place, who further pointed out that it was “in accordance with the law with due respect of basic human rights.” – Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
