CEBU - Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri will be releasing the remaining P500,000 financial assistance he recently promised to several Cebu towns.
The release of the funds will be through the local government units and not anymore through the Department of Public Works and Highways.
This after municipal mayors complained of delay in the release of funds from the DPWH, making the delay in the implementation of priority projects.
After the May 2007 elections, Zubiri promised some Cebu town mayors he will allocate P1 million for each of them to help in the implementation of projects identified by the LGUs.
It was learned that the initial amount of P500,000 was already released through the DPWH.
But most of the town mayors would want to implement, this time, the projects by themselves after experiencing alleged delays in the release of funds from DPWH.
The other day, Zubiri assured Cebu southern town mayors that he would fast track the release of the remaining half-a-million-peso financial aid for the priority projects identified by each municipality.
The senator made the assurance during his visit to the towns of Santander, Samboan, Alegria, Malabuyoc, and in Argao where he was guest speaker during its celebration of the Pitlagong Festival last Sunday.
He said that he personally inspects the implementation of the priority projects funded by his office.
“Gusto nako nga ang mga proyekto nga gipatuman sa mga mayor mapahimuslan gyod sa kadaghanan,” said Zubiri, a native of Bukidnon. — Jose P. Sollano/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
