Man shot for refusing to share his winnings
CEBU - For refusing to share his winnings, a man was shot by his own friend in barangay Bagacay, Sibonga, Cebu early morning last Friday.
Jeffrey Paran, a resident of the place, sustained a gunshot wound to his chin after his friend and neighbor, Rolando Alferez shot him at past 1 a.m.
Reports reaching the Cebu Provincial Police Office said Alferez, Paran and several friends were attending a wake at the neighborhood prior to the incident.
During the wake, Paran allegedly won P3,000 in the card game and Alferez asked him for his share but despite his consistent prodding, the victim reportedly refused to give any amount.
Irked, Alferez threatened Paran that something will happen to him if he does not grant his wish. The suspect then left the wake while Paran and their other friends continued gambling.
After midnight, Paran allegedly went home but as he was about to enter his house, Alferez, who was standing outside the house shot the victim hitting him on the chin.
Paran was rushed to the hospital for treatment while responding police conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the suspect.
Recovered from Alferez’s possession were .38 caliber revolver and one empty shell of the same firearm.
It was also learned that Paran is out on probation for two months for a case involving firearms. — Ferliza C. Contratista/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
