P40M road project stalled due to right-of-way issues
CEBU – The P40-million worth of farm-to-market road project of Fourth District Rep. Benhur Salimbangon hit a snag after many landowners in the mountain barangays of Tabuelan and some parts of Tabogon and San Remigio reportedly refused to have their properties utilized for the road right of way for still undetermined reasons.
Salimbangon has his vice mayor, Rex Gerona, is now negotiating with the lot owners to fast track the project, especially that the money to fund the project has already been appropriated from his Priority Development Assistance Fund.
These areas already have existing roads but Salimbangon said more roads are needed to make the transfer of farm roads faster.
Likewise, rehabilitation is already underway on the road that connects the National Highway going to barangays Calambua and San Miguel in San Remigio and barangay Kantuba-on in Tabuelan. Concreting of national roads has also started.
Salimbangon urged town and barangay officials in his district to prioritize roads, water system, electrification and other more important projects. — Gregg M. Rubio/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
