Boy, 15, in critical condition after being stabbed in chest

CEBU – A 15-year-old boy and a tricycle driver landed in the hospital after being attacked in two separate stabbing incidents.

The minor, who is a resident of Rizal St., barangay Poblacion, Danao City, is now in critical condition after sustaining a stab wound to the chest past midnight yesterday in Duterte St., Poblacion.

The suspect was identified as Romie Amoroto, 18, a store helper, and a resident of sitio Ilaya, barangay Poblacion, Danao City, and is currently detained at the Danao City Police Station pending the filing of appropriate charges against him.

Investigation showed that the victim was on his way home when he was stabbed by the suspect who fled the area after the incident.

However, he was caught by the “Delta Force”, a volunteer group, led by a certain Roland Reyes.

When the Danao police interrogated the suspect as to the reason behind the stabbing, he refused to give any answer.

The victim, who was rushed to the Danao District Hospital, was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City because of his critical condition.

Meanwhile, a tricycle driver was stabbed 5 p.m. last Saturday in barangay Ocaña, Carcar City, after he allegedly failed to settle a debt.

The victim was identified as Narciso Abadilla, 49, while the suspect was identified as Joseph Nacua, a neighbor of the victim.

Investigation revealed that the victim was stabbed with a knife by the suspect upon reaching barangay Ocaña from Sibonga town.

The victim was first cut in the arm then stabbed in the left side of his torso.

Investigation further disclosed that the victim and the suspect had a previous altercation over an unpaid debt while playing “tong-its”, a card game.

The victim was rushed by the responding policemen to the Jesus Paras Memorial District Hospital, while the suspect who fled the area right after the incident is still being pursued by the Carcar police. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
