CEBU – Charges of qualified theft will be filed today against 21 employees of a softdrinks distributor for alleged theft of P2 million worth of products.
Edelyn Lomotos, the owner of Delco Enterprises based in barangay Quiot, Cebu City, filed a complaint with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-7 about her employees, who reportedly have been stealing products since June.
To bolster her claim, she presented to the NBI documents proving the theft of products. Lomotos went to the NBI last Monday. After receiving her complaint, agents were sent to do surveillance.
The raiding team pounced on the suspects last Friday.
The team was led by Special Investigator Arnel Pura. The other members of the team were lawyers Bernard dela Cruz, Renan Oliva, and Jose Ermie Monsanto along with Special Investigator Gregorio Algoso.
Pura said that they found strong evidence that the suspects committed acts of pilferage to detriment of their employer.
“Pananglitan, ang sa actual record, 100 ang i-deliver, ang buhaton sa checker in connivance with the crew, ila i-reduce to 70. Ang 30 ana, ila ibaligya,” Pura said.
The workers are now detained at the NBI-7 headquarters in barangay Capitol Site.
The FREEMAN tried to get the side of the suspects, but they refused to comment.
The families of the suspects also refused to make any comment.
They however expressed surprise over the arrest of the 21 suspects and found out about it only from a news report on television.
