92 barangays receive multicab from Capitol

CEBU - Ninety-two hinterland barangays in the province were given one multicab each by the Cebu provincial government yesterday for official travel and project monitoring.

But Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia and Association of Barangay Council President Teresita Celis, who also sits ex-officio in the Provincial Board, reminded the barangays officials to use the multicabs only for official functions and not for personal use.

“Dili nako matagaan ang tanan, atong gitagaan ang labaw nga nagkinahanglan,” Garcia said.

“Wala ko kamo pili-a kay tungod mibotar o nakadaog ko sa inyong barangay. Ang atong gitagaan ang labing nagkinahanglan ug wala’y bolok politika,” she added.

Dumanjug Mayor Cesar Baricuatro, who is the president of the Mayor’s League, told the mayors to appropriate funds for the maintenance of the multicabs.

“Kung pabayaan natin ‘yan, isang Linggo tapos na ‘yan,” the mayor said.

The local government units earlier signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the provincial government for the maintenance of the multicabs.

Garcia said that since the province owns the multicabs, it will spend for the vehicles’ registration and third-party liability insurance while the local government units concerned shall take care of the maintenance of the vehicles. — Garry B. Lao/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
