CEBU - For trying to stab his wife, a man was charged with attempted parricide before the Regional Trial Court yesterday.
Corazon Atamosa of barangay Labangon, Cebu City has filed the charge against her husband Jesus Atamosa after the latter allegedly tried to stab her in the middle of their argument last September 12.
In her sworn affidavit, Corazon said that sometime on September 12, Jesus came home drunk and asked her if he could have sex with her but she refused which made the suspect mad. Because of this, Jesus allegedly slammed the door and tried to stab her.
Corazon was quick to parry the attack and jumped off the window of their house to avoid being hurt.
The complainant further said that when her son Jerald saw his father trying to her, Jerald tried to grapple for the knife to save his mother.
Corazon then reported the incident to the police who responded and arrested the accused.
The complainant said it was not the first time that her husband beat her. Last June 23, she said Jesus was arrested for stoning and injuring his son Jerald and was charged for slight physical injuries.
A bail of P120,000 has been recommended by Prosecutor Anna Lou Fernandez-Cavada for the temporary liberty of the accused. — Jasmin R. Uy/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
