CEBU - Presidential Management Staff Director General Cerge Remonde, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, and Cebu third district Rep. Pablo Garcia are the special guests in Argao’s 400th founding anniversary this Friday.
Major highlights of the celebration include the inauguration of the Diosdado Macapagal Cultural and Sports Center, the launching of the Local Broadband Network, and the launching of Argao’s history book.
The book entitled Argao: 400 Years in Legend and History was written by Todd Lucero Sales, the town historian who earned his degree in political science from the University of the Philippines in 2002.
In a message in the book, Argao Mayor Edsel Galeos said, “it serves as a small token of the history and culture of the town and that it is the product of the sacrifices and the achievements of every Argawanon.”
The book was edited by Vince Escario and Eliezer Sarmago.
A mass at the Saint Michael church will begin the celebration, after which, the centennial flame would be lighted.
Argawanons and tourists alike would also be treated with a grand fireworks display and parade of lights and street dancing. – Kareen Joy T. Saliente/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
