Still no relief order against Calungsod

CEBU - Mandaue City Police Office chief Sr. Supt. Rodel Calungsod will go on leave only if and when there is a letter from the mayor letting him do so.

This was said by Police Regional Office-7 director Ronald Roderos who also said that he has not yet received any letter from Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes.

Roderos also said Calungsod told him he will be talking with the mayor and Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna regarding the matter.

Cortes earlier said he wants Calungsod replaced as soon as possible as the mayor is no longer satisfied with his performance as well as the rest of the Mandaue City Police Office officials.

It was Calungsod who reported during the Regional Peace and Order Council meeting that crime has risen in Mandaue City and Roderos who concluded that political bickering in the Mandaue City Hall was the cause behind this.

Roderos said that as soon as he receives the letter from Cortes affirming the replacement of Calungsod, he will immediately coordinate with the latter.

He said that there are seven available PRO-7 senior superintendents who are eligible to the position.

The names of the five among these seven officials will be forwarded by Roderos to the Senior Officer Placement and Promotions Board to select from in replacement to Calungsod, with the approval of Cortes of course. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
