Fisherman stabbed dead in Camotes

-

CEBU – A 40-year-old fisherman was stabbed to death around 5:30 p.m. last Friday in sitio Kantao-an, barangay Esperanza, Poro town, Camotes.

Benigno Heyroso, married and a resident of the place, was declared dead on the spot after sustaining stab wounds in his chest and abdomen.

The suspect, Oliver Escoton, 20, a neighbor of the victim voluntarily gave up himself to the responding policemen and is now detained at the Poro jail.

Police investigation said that Heyroso was on his way home after placing his boat safely at bay when the suspect, who was then waiting for the victim, suddenly stabbed the latter several times and killing him instantly.

Escoton voluntarily surrendered to the responding policemen who were also able to recover the bloodstained knife that the suspect used in killing the victim.

Police investigators are still doing follow up of the incident to determine the real motive of the suspect but initial information gathered by the police disclosed that Heyroso and Escoton have personal grudges. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
