2 Consolacion rob suspects fall
CEBU – Policemen arrested two suspects in the recent robbery of the owner of Bing’s Pharmacy in Consolacion town.
A joint team of the Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit-7 team led by Supt. Rex Derilo and the Consolacion police led by Insp. Leoncio Baliguat raided an alleged safehouse of a robbery group in Upper Jagobiao past 2 p.m. Friday.
This after a certain Pio Tahum, who was arrested the night before by the Consolacion police for robbery, squealed on his accomplices Ivy Abasolo, Endrel Puno, Danilo Naya and a certain “Lino” during interrogation by the RCIDU.
One of the items confiscated from Tahum was a red Honda XRM motorcycle with no plate number. The motorcycle was identified to have been used by the suspects in the robbery and shooting of Filomeno Lumapas, owner of Bing’s Pharmacy, last Tuesday night.
Tahum, who is a member of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity, revealed that the others used to store their loot at his house and were the same suspects who used the red motorcycle in a robbery the night before.
As they were approaching the safehouse, Derilo said they saw Puno pull out a gun and aim it at them, but PO2 Eriberto Dacalos was quickly shot the suspect’s right foot.
Puno still managed to run but policemen eventually caught up with him. Recovered from him was a .38 cal. Smith & Wesson revolver with no serial number and five live rounds.
He was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment and was then brought to RCIDU office.
Minutes later, Lumapas, who had just been discharged from the hospital after being shot in the chest during the robbery, arrived at RCIDU and identified Puno as one of the three men who robbed him and his wife Gabriela of P100,000 when they left the pharmacy on their way home.
Another robbery victim named Karen Michelle Flores also came to the office and identified Puno as one of the three men who robbed her of her mobile phone last August 18. — Ferliza C. Contratista/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
