Awol policeman facing dismissal

-

CEBU - A policeman from Tuburan Police Station is now facing termination from service for not reporting to work without filing a leave of absence.

Cebu Provincial Police Office has already forwarded the case of PO2 Noel Rodriguez to the Police Regional Office-7 for decision and imposition of appropriate sanctions.

Report from the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch revealed that PO2 Rodriguez went AWOL allegedly because of family problem.

PIDMB chief Supt. Anthony Bagarinao disclosed that Rodriguez violated the pre-charge evaluation, which is a common violation among PNP personnel who go absent without filing a leave of absence and seeking the approval of his immediate superior.

Rodriguez’s failure to report to work is tantamount to neglect of duty, which is a grave offense under the National Police Commission memorandum circular 2007-001 section 2, Rule 21.

It was revealed that Rodriguez did not report to work from August 7 to 26.

PNP Memorandum Circular 2008-005, dated May 17, 2008 states that a PNP personnel who has committed absences of more than five days can be dropped from said position with due notice. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
