2 killed, 3 injured in road accidents

CEBU - At least two persons died while three others were severely injured in two separate vehicular accidents in Asturias and Bogo City last Monday.

In Asturias, Juan Padal, 27, a resident of barangay Baliwagan, Balamban, Cebu was declared dead at Balamban District Hospital due to severe injuries he sustained in different parts of his body.

Police said Padal was driving a bicycle heading towards Tuburan town when he was suddenly bumped by a black Euro motorcycle with plate number 7MC-8219 driven by Junrey Cabatingan.

Because of the impact, Cabatingan and his back riders, identified as Romel Bago and Ihandy Casas, all residents of barangay Bago, Asturias also sustained injuries but were later discharged from the hospital.

Cabatingan is now detained at Asturias police station while his motorcycle was impounded by the police to be used in the filing of charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide against the suspect.

In Bogo City, motorcycle driver Ariel Ortega Rosende was declared dead on arrival at Bogo City District Hospital after the vehicle he was riding lost control and accidentally rammed the back of a private Isuzu FSR van which was parked 1.15 meters off the road.

Rosende was traveling from barangay Lapaz going to Bogo City proper when he allegedly lost control of the motorcycle.

Police said the victim was confirmed drunk after a liquor test was conducted shortly before he died.
