-

CEBU - A man is now facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide after hitting and killing a 51-year-old man while riding his vehicle in sitio Cogon, barangay Poblacion, Liloan town last Sunday night.

The suspect, who was arrested yesterday morning, was identified as Joselito Auman, 40, and a resident of sitio Cemboryo, barangay Tayud, Liloan.

He was identified by witnesses as the one who hit and killed Bienvenido Ramirez Roa, a resident of sitio Cogon, barangay San Vicente, Liloan.

SPO1 Joseph Turlao of the Liloan police revealed that the victim was walking home when he was hit by a speeding multicab driven by Auman. Roa was thrown some meters away and hit his head hard on the asphalt.

Auman allegedly sped away from the scene even after he saw he had just hit the victim.

He was arrested by policemen led by traffic investigator PO3 Raul Flores when he passed by the place the following morning.

The suspect later said that when he saw the victim crossing the road, he tried to maneuver out of the way. But when he saw a pothole, he tried to avoid it but accidentally hit the victim.

He is now detained at the police station detention cell. – Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
