Two men were killed while another was injured after a collision between a pickup and a motorcycle in barangay Cogon, Bogo City around 1 a.m. yesterday.
SPO4 Robert Fernandez of the Bogo City Police Station identifiedthe first casualty as Romero Crodua, 51, of sitio Maharat, barangay Bungtod, the driver of the Yamaha L2.
His two passengers were Eliseo Tangcawan Jr., 38 and Jovelone Tul-id, 28, both from barangay Taytayan.
Fernandez said that Crodua and his passengers came from the Bogo port heading to barangay Taytayan while the Mitsubishi pick-up driven by Raul Ancot of barangay Cogon was heading for barangay Cogon from Taytayan.
Witnesses said they saw Crodua cross into the opposite lane while turning at the intersection and smacked into the pick-up.
“Way suga ang motorsiklo nga gisakyan sa mga biktima og pag-abot sa junction sa barangay Cogon nikawat og lugar mao nga nagkabangga gyud kini sa gikasugat nga pick-up,” Fernandez said.
Crodua was allegedly driving the motorcycle at a high speed and the impact threw him and his passengers into the pavement.
Crodua was killed instantly. Tul-id died at 6 a.m. at the Severo Verallo District Hospital for severe head injuries while Tangcawan was brought to a hospital in Cebu City.
Ancot’s vehicle merely sustained a deformed windshield.
There were reports that the victims were drinking at the port area before they headed home.
Ancot voluntarily surrendered himself at the police while waiting for the charges for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide to be filed against him. — Ferliza C. Contratista with reports from Darrel Carrumba of Banat News/BRP
