Osmeña fires 2  MMT members

Even if you pick the best fruits and put them together in one basket, there would always be some that rotten and have to be thrown out before they infect others.

This is what Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña did when he fired two members of the vaunted Mayor’s Management Team composed of honor graduates from various schools in Cebu.

The mayor made the decision to fire the tow members of the MMT after they were caught committing illegal acts.

Although he would not name them, Osmeña said that one was fired for mismanaging funds while the other was for falsifying the daily time record.

This is the second time that the mayor has fired members of the MMT. The first was when one figured in a controversy for allowing her boyfriend to join her in the office while doing overtime work.

These incidents do not however discourage Osmeña from continuing the program of hiring the top graduates to do various tasks for the city.

He said that he remains satisfied with the performance of the team as a whole and hopes that by weeding out the rotten ones, the others would not do the same.

At present, there are 64 members of the MMT, who hold office at the eighth floor of the City Hall annex where the mayor also conducts business.
