Man upset over wife’s work sked shoots self

-

A husband who reportedly had enough of his wife’s excuses for coming home late from work shot himself dead inside the comfort room of their house in barangay Don Andres Soriano, Toledo City, last Saturday dawn.

Prior to that, 41-year-old Regidor Gesite had a heated argument with his wife, Christy, this according to the initial investigation made by SPO1 Romeo Agustines.

Agustines said that the couple’s 10-year-old son narrated to him that he was awakened by the angry voices of his parents who were arguing.

The boy said that his mother has just arrived that time from her work at the Carmen Copper Corporation.  He said that was already past 11 p.m. of Friday.

Then he heard his father complaining of his mother’s work schedule, that she came home only on weekends and arrived late at night.

The boy added that the argument lasted for over an hour, until he heard his mother shouting for help.

Inside his parents’ room, he said he saw his mother trying to stop his father from getting a handgun in the drawer.  After which, he saw his father heading for the comfort room and he heard a gunshot a few seconds after.

Police recovered from the scene a .38 cal. revolver with three live rounds, and a single slug.

Agustines said they are convinced that there was no foul play in the incident, neither was it accidental.

It is believed that the husband was unable to adjust to the work schedule of his wife and that the unmet balance of means and needs tend to be the cause of the suicide more common among married men.  In psychology, this condition is called chronic domestic anomie under the anomic suicide category. — Ferliza C.
