Three of five men who are wanted for the robbery and killing of the barangay captain of Bulwang, Tuburan town, were arrested during the joint operation conducted by the local police and the military last Friday evening in barangay Cabalawan, Sogod.
Sogod Police chief Insp. Ramon Lacno said his men, along with personnel from 78th Infantry Battalion led by Staff Sgt. Jose Gilbert Calubayan, conducted the operation past 7 p.m. last Friday to capture the five suspects who were charged for robbing and killing barangay captain Galicano Montebon in Tuburan town last year.
However, the operatives were only able to capture three of the suspects who were identified as Mamerto Catapan, Abraham Brigoli Jr. and an alleged minor, who were arrested by virtue of the warrant of arrest issued by Danao Regional Trial Court judge Editho Enemecio.
It was learned that the municipality of Tuburan offered a P40,000 reward for the capture of each of the suspects.
The two other suspects, Sonny Catapan and Ricky Pareglo, are still at large.
According to Lacno, the operation was a result of a month long intelligence gathering and monitoring with full support of the Barangay Intelligence Network.
