Robber who accidentally shot accomplice charged

-

Two robbers who were arrested after one of them accidentally shot the other while they were robbing a student in Guadalupe, are now facing three separate robbery charges before the Regional Trial Court.

Agustin Muñoz and Milard Cuevas were charged by their victims Catherine Laurente, Margarette Baguio, and Mary Joy dela Cruz who positively identified the two after their arrest by responding policemen last August 18.

The victims, who were robbed separately last August 18, said the suspects took their cellular phones and money.

While the two suspects were in the act of robbing Baguio in Nichols Heights, barangay Guadalupe, Muñoz accidentally shot Cuevas in the back.

Baguio narrated at around 7:30 p.m. while she was on her way home, the suspects appeared and one of them pointed a gun at her and took her i-pod, digital camera and ATM cards.  But as she turned away she heard a gunshot and saw one of them fall to the ground, prompting her to run to the Guadalupe Police Station for assistance.

According to Chief Senior Inspector Michael Anthony Bastes of the theft and robbery section,  Muñoz and another companion brought Cuevas to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center but just literally dropped him to the ground and sped off.

Cuevas was arrested after police traced his whereabouts from inquiry in hospitals while Muñoz was arrested after a policeman heard him bragging about accidentally shooting his accomplice.

The two other victims, Laurente and Dela Cruz, went to the police station upon learning from reports that the two suspects were arrested. They said that the two also took their cellular phones, cash and shoulder bags in two separate incidents dawn of August 18.  Jasmin R. Uy/WAB
