A 19-year-old man from Toledo City landed in the hospital after he was beaten blue by an alleged member of a fraternity.
Glen Mar Quipao of barangay Sangi, Toledo City had his face severely injured after he was attacked by an alleged member of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity at the riverside of the said barangay.
The suspect was identified as Allan Abanid, 27 years old, a resident of Kabankalan, Toledo City who said to have escaped after the incident.
Police investigation showed that Quipao and his companion, Jaime Cataylo, 28, were on their way to a bakery past midnight yesterday when the suspect approached them and, without any word, punched Quipao in the face.
“Mga 12:15 sa kadlawon, milakaw ning duha (Quipao and Cataylo) padulong sa bakery kay mopalit unta og pan pero wala pa sila kaabot sa tindahan, gisugat na sila sa suspect, ug mao ‘to, giayo sa suspek ug puspos sa iyang kinumo ang nawong sa biktima,” PO1 Celso Makidato of the Toledo police station said in an interview yesterday.
Police said Abanid allegedly had an axe to grind against Quipao but details of the conflict between the two are yet to be clarified.
