Police have placed under arrest the highest-ranking leader of Crips Gang for illegal possession of firearm after a tip that the group was hanging around the neighborhood of B. Rodriguez in barangay Sambag II Tuesday.
Jason Flores, 23, was found in possession of a magnum 22 revolver with three live ammunitions and with two marijuana sticks.
Flores, known as “Jason Ero,” admitted being the “Original Gangster” of Crips but denied involvement in the death of Glenn Santos, the leader of rival Bloods Gang who was shot at the Carbon Market last year.
He also denied allegations that he was the trigger happy guy who fired at several minors in barangay Sambag 1 last month, which resulted to the death of one. Six of the victims had identified Flores when the latter was presented to the media.
“Kun si Aves sa Akrho (Alpha Kappa Rho) ako sa Crips,” Flores said, adding, that he has been mistakenly blamed of crimes he did not commit because of his “notorious” reputation. He admitted that he was found guilty of illegal possession the other year but was eventually set free May this year.
Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau Chief George Ylanan said Flores allegedly went into hiding in Bohol after he was accused of killing Santos last year. Ylanan said they are just waiting for more witnesses and complainants to come forward.
Charges for illegal possession of firearm, violation of the Anti-Dangerous Drugs Law and murder will be filed against Flores anytime soon. The operation the other day was conducted by a joint force between the CIIB and the Fuente Police Station 2.
Just like the conflict between Alpha Kappa Rho and Tau Gamma Phi fraternities, Crips and Bloods have been the subject of attention by the police because of their rivalry that often resulted to violence not only in Cebu but also in neighboring provinces of Bohol and Negros Oriental. — Ferliza C.
