-

Traffic in the downtown area will be rerouted today to secure the City Hall grounds with the presence of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Arroyo is guest of honor in today’s formal inauguration of the newly renovated Legislative Building. She would also lead the unveiling of the marker of the newly-landscaped grounds of the Legislative Building, which the city has named “Plaza Sugbu”.

The rerouting takes effect from 6 a.m. today up to 7 p.m. today.

Vehicles plying Magallanes Street towards the City Hall shall turn left to F. Gonzales Street towards Osmeña Boulevard and proceed to their points of destination.

Vehicles coming from the Carbon Area passing along M.C. Briones Street to the City Hall shall turn left to F. Gonzales Street or may proceed to the next corner then turn left to D. Jakosalem Street. From there, they may proceed to Osmeña Boulevard then to their points of destination.

Meanwhile, vehicles coming from Osmeña Boulevard and to M.J. Cuenco Avenue towards the City Hall shall turn right to M.C. Briones Street.

Vehicles bound for the South Road Properties may only pass through D. Jakosalem Street.

Vehicles not bound for SRP but are plying M.C. Briones Street may turn right to Lapu-Lapu Street or D. Jakosalem Street and then to their points of destination.

Some roads would also be temporarily used for one-way traffic, including M.C. Briones Street to Osmeña Boulevard, D. Jakosalem Street to F. Gonzales Street, and M.J. Cuenco Ave. to D. Jakosalem Street.

The City Traffic Operations Management advised motorists to strictly follow the installed traffic signs to avoid confusion.   Jessica Ann G. Pareja/JMO
