New Pardo captain: All appointed barangay workers would be fired
All appointed employees of barangay Poblacion Pardo would be fired from their present positions as soon as court-proclaimed winner for barangay captain Fermin Dasmariñas finally takes his seat, a few weeks from now.
Dasmariñas said those who will be fired still have the chance to be rehired, but would have to reapply and their applications subjected to evaluation to find out if their services are really needed.
The appointed employees include the barangay secretary and treasurer who also serve as members of the barangay council.
“Sigurado g’yod nga matangtang sa katungdanan sa barangay kadtong mga kawani nga sa among pagbana-bana wala na kinahanglana ang ilang serbisyo,” Dasmariñas said.
Municipal Trial Court in Cities Judge Monalila Tecson has already allowed Dasmariñas to assume office as barangay captain of Poblacion Pardo, but still required Dasmariñas first to secure an execution order from the court that will be granted to him only after the payment of P50,000 bond.
Dasmariñas will comply with the court’s order by putting up the required bond but said that, even if he gets the execution order from the court, he would give incumbent barangay captain Danilo Lim a chance to block his assumption of office if the latter wishes to do it.
Under the rules, the Comelec-Manila has the power to issue temporary restraining order against the regular courts over election-related cases that would stop Dasmariñas from taking the post, but it will depend if Lim’s counsel will be be able to secure such legal remedy.
Despite their political conflict, however, Dasmariñas and Lim remain in good relation as “kumpares.” The two yesterday stood as sponsors of the baptismal of the child of their common friend in
After losing the elections to Lim by a 52-vote margin, Dasmariñas filed an election protest in court against the Barangay Board of Canvassers and asked for a recounting of votes.
Tecson, after the recount, overturned the canvassers’ declaration of Lim and proclaimed Dasmariñas as the winner by edging Lim with 134 votes.
