Fratman shot dead

A member of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity was shot dead while drinking with his friend in sitio Inayawan Proper, barangay Inayawan, Cebu City, early morning last Monday.

Viviano Villareal Jr., 25, was with his friend Tacy Ocampo when two men on a motorcycle slowly drove by them and the man riding pillion shot the victim several times.

Villareal was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the doctor.

The driver of the vehicle was later identified as a certain Jestoni Tabura.  His passenger is still unidentified but is allegedly a member of the Crips gang.

The two fled after the incident and are now being sought.

SPO1 Roger Nedamo of the Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section said that prior to the incident, both victim and Tabura were seen having an argument, but the police do not have the details of their alleged dispute.

During the argument, Tabura was allegedly heard threatening to kill the victim.

The motorcycle used in the shooting was later recovered at the house of a certain Miguel Enriquez, but Enriquez said the two alleged assailants just borrowed his motorcycle.

While the victim and the alleged assailant were member of gangs, Nedamo said the incident might not be fraternity-related at all. — Joy Kareen T. Saliente/BRP
