-

Five decomposing bodies were found by fishermen floating in different parts off Bantayan Island yesterday.

One body was reportedly pulled out of the water by fishermen on board a fishing boat named Alaska owned by Gidon fishing corporation of Negros Occidental.

The fatality was identified as 34-year-old Armando Fernandez, a resident of barangay Guiwanon, Bantayan.

Fernandez was reportedly on board a fishing boat that capsized at the height of typhoon Frank.

In Patao, Bantayan, another body was picked up by a fishing boat named Tessie-Mark.

The rotting body of the man was found floating in the open waters near the island of Tanggingi, Madridejos.

However, there were no identification papers on the man, but they noticed that he had tattoos on both wrists.

In Madridejos, another decomposing body was fished out by fishermen after it was found floating on the seawater between Kampurko and Kampuhawan at around 4:30 in the afternoon yesterday.

The victim was wearing a brown sleeveless shirt and a pair of maroon short pants, the body was already difficult to identify since like the others, it was already decomposing.

Two dead bodies, on the other hand were found in Santa Fe. One was in barangay Hagdan Kantacan while the other was found in barangay Langob.

“Lisod na pag-identify kay decomposing na. Gani, ang usa, naghukas na lang,” a police officer of Sta. Fe police station told The FREEMAN.

Sta. Fe police however were certain that the recovered bodies were not residents of the place.

The residents immediately buried the corpses because of the foul smell. — Kareen Joy Saliente/NLQ
