CCPO expands its night patrol
The Cebu City Police Office is expanding its night patrol by deploying all its personnel to different streets in the city.
“We are expanding our night watch by deploying all (PNP) personnel,” said CCPO director Patrocinio Comendador.
Comendador said a certain police officer is obliged to perform a night watch regardless of whether he or she is assigned in the office during the day.
“Before we used to have three teams, but now we have deployed many,” the city police director said.
A police officer must render one night watch once a month while the armed personnel would roam around the city at night everyday to maintain the peace and order of the city.
The city police expect that the expansion of night patrol would somehow lessen the crimes committed in the city, most of which happen at night.
Comendador said that through the expansion of the night watch, police officers would be able to immediately respond to certain incidents such as robbery and snatching.
“We are doing this para naa gyu’y maka-respond dayon,” he added. – Kareen Joy Saliente/LPM
