2 suspected drug peddlers arrested

Two suspected drug pushers were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 in a buy-bust operation last Thursday in the evening in sitio Wakwak, barangay Sawang Calero.

The suspects who will be facing violation of Section 5 Article 2 of the RA 9165 for selling illegal drugs were identified as Dennis Delima, 18, and Dante dela Peña, 31, both residents of the area.

The PDEA-7 reportedly received complaints from residents of the said place that the two were selling illegal drugs prompting the said office to conduct a surveillance.

The group of IO1 Baby Earl Rallos who set up the entrapment used P300 as buy-bust money and ordered a pack of shabu from Delima after their confirmation following the surveillance.

Delima was reportedly accompanied by Dela Peña when the transaction was in progress, after handing the drugs over and receiving payment the agents pounced on the two and arrested them.

Agents reportedly recovered two more packs of suspected shabu from Delima and three more from Dela Peña.

The two were booked for filing of charges at the PDEA office.

A few days ago, PDEA agents also arrested three drug personalities in barangay Sambag 1 and identified them as Venezza Delgado, Humffrey Dave Joren and Janice Maglasang.

Rep. Antonio Cuenco, of the South District during the seminar workshop on all law enforcement units in the region engaged in anti-illegal drugs operations last week said more and more Filipinos are getting hooked on illegal drugs and he is lobbying for the government to add more funds to the campaign against illegal drugs.  — Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
