Suroy-Suroy goes midwest

-

For the first time in its fourth year, the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo goes Midwest Cebu on June 12 to 13.

The Midwest Cebu tour package will cover Toledo City and the towns of Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan, Balamban, Asturias, Tuburan, and Tabuelan.

In a meeting yesterday among the mayors and tourism officers of local governments composing the Midwest, choreographer Jonjit Primor gave them tips on making their towns fabulous and fantastic for the tourists taking the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo package.

The Midwest package provides visits to spots like the Buswag Lake, and the Molobolo spring, among others.

“Dapat nga ‘bonggacious’ gyud ang atong tagsa-tagsa ka mga towns inig bisita sa mga guests,” Primor told the local officials but reminded them that in cultural shows, no dancers shall be allowed to wear skimpy attires that expose bellies, thighs, and armpits.

Primor clarified that the foods to be served to the guests must be authentic Cebuano or Filipino dishes, as well as the songs and dances presented. He also urged them to use native decorations, or designs inherent to the place.

The Suroy-Suroy Sugbo, which started in 2004, was a test program to encourage tourists, local and foreign, to tour the island province via a caravan of buses, cars, and other motor vehicles.
