Citom collects P4.7M in first 4 months of ‘08

The City Traffic Operations Management’s collection for the first four months of the year was pegged at P4.7 million compared to last year’s P3.2 million.

From March to April alone, Citom has collected more than P300,000. Its collection from January to March was P4,405,233.66 and went up to P4,736,330 in April.

Citom, which presented the data during the regular board meeting last Wednesday, said bulk of the collection comes from parking fees with P2,969,690 compared to P2,043,390 that was collected for the same period last year.

The traffic body’s collection from administrative charges also almost doubled from last year’s P255,090 to P507,111 this year while collection from clamping fees also went up to P427,280 from P292,230.  Delivery permit fee also increased to P247,350 from P147,450 and towing fee went up by more than three times from P41,600 to P155,124. But it was noted that jaywalking fee dropped from P102,900 in the first quarter of 2007 to P97,150 for the first four months of this year.

Jaywalking violators have option either to undergo community service program and seminar or pay the penalty of P50. Smoke belching fee also went down significantly from P86,000 to only P1,500 and drivers/vehicles clearance dropped from P5,140 to P4,480.

Trisikad fee also decreased from P139,360 to P109,850 while bicycle registration fees went down also from P8,030 to P6,400. — Wenna A. Berondo/MEEV
