3 men arrested for drugs, crowd allows 1 to escape

Three men were arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency the other night in simultaneous buy-bust operations in barangay Tangke, Talisay City, and barangay Poblacion Occidental, Consolacion town.

Arrested in Talisay City was Eugene Genovesa, 29, a sari-sari store caretaker while those apprehended in Consolacion were Danilo Cabrera, 28, and Noel Santiago, 36.   PDEA-7 spokesman Jessie Tabanao said all three were arrested after several weeks of surveillance.

Genovesa was taken in after he handed over a pack of suspected shabu to poseur-buyer in exchange for P200 marked money.   Cabrera and Santiago were arrested after the latter handed over a pack of shabu. Cabrera was placed on the watchlist three months ago after allegedly entering the drug trade.

The raiders in Talisay City also targeted Glen Basar, an alleged Level 2 drug pusher who could sell at least 200 grams of shabu per week but he escaped after several neighbors mobbed the arresting policemen.

“Giatangan ang atong mga operatiba may gani nga duol ra ang sakyanan.  Gani gibato pa ang atong mga raiding team, morag gyud ug nag-people power ang taga-Tangke” Tabanao said.

The PDEA is set to file charges against the three arrested men today.  Ramil V. Ayuman/BRP
