Combined elements of policemen and barangay officials arrested a man who stabbed his neighbor dead in barangay Mambaling last Wednesday night.
SPO2 Bestilio Dabatos said the suspect Nolito Asingua, 57, a resident of the said place, and the victim, Allan Villeno, 44, a machine operator of a battery company, were long-time neighbors. Last Wednesday, Asingua accidentally hit Villeno with his trisikad.
This resulted to a fistfight, which ended when Villeno stabbed Asingua with a knife in the chin and left side of the chest.
Asingua was brought to the Miller General Hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The morning after the crime, policemen went to Villeno’s house to arrest him but he was no longer there.
That evening the police received a phone call from one of Villeno’s relatives informing them of his whereabouts.
Villeno was temporarily detained at the Mambaling police station but later transferred to the city police office headquarters. — Trex Eden O. Ignacio, UP intern/BRP
