A 43-year-old fish dealer was badly hurt when two unidentified men mugged then stabbed him along T. Bugallion Street, barangay Suba, yesterday dawn.
City police investigators said the victim, Larry Baguio, was alone while walking on his way to the fish port in Suba when the two assailants who were wearing bonnets waylaid him and beat him up.
Baguio tried to fight off the attackers but he got stabbed in his right forearm and right thigh when one of them attached him with a knife.
No one else was in the streets at the time but the commotion drew the attention of people who came out of their houses to see what was going on.
The two suspects saw people coming and immediately fled from the scene leaving the victim sprawled and bloodied on the street. They left without taking anything from the victim.
Baguio was immediately taken to the Cebu City Medical Center. Hospital staff reported that he was already out of danger as of yesterday.
Residents also told Homicide Section investigators that Baguio had no known enemies. — Trex Eden O. Ignacio
