UV announces no tuition hike

-

Amidst the soaring prices of commodities, the University of the Visayas maintains its “No Tuition Fee Increase” policy this school year and extends discounts to as high as 50 percent for deserving students.

In a press release, UV management reiterated no increase in the tuition fees of all courses and levels for school year 2008 to 2009.

If three siblings are enrolled in UV, one of them can enjoy a 50 percent discount. If four are enrolled, one of them is entitled to a full scholarship.

For those with five children enrolled, one is given a full scholarship and another is extended a 50 percent discount.

While those families with six children enrolled in UV, two students will enjoy full scholarships.

Government employees are automatically given a discount of 30 percent upon presentation of proper identification.

There will also be full tuition fee discounts for valedictorians and salutatorians for one academic year with cash incentives.

Those who graduated as first honorable mentions are extended 35 percent discount, 30 percent for second honorable mention, 20 percent for fourth honorable mention and 15 percent for fifth honorable mention.

All UV students are covered by free vehicular accident insurance and are entitled to a one-time annual general checkup.

Incoming freshmen and transferees will be given 10 percent discount and also to those who will enroll before May 21.

For the convenience of the public, the UV College of Nursing accepts enrollment for first year applicants at the Gullas Medical Center in Banilad, UV campuses in the cities of Mandaue, Danao, Toledo and the town of Minglanilla.

Classes will start on June 10.  Ferliza C. Contratista/BRP
