Jeepney driver shot dead in Consolacion

A jeepney driver was shot dead in Consolacion town while he was on his way to work around 5 a.m. yesterday.

Police identified the victim as Miguel Zalazar, 40, of sitio Phase II, barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion.

PO3 Allan Maglangit said the victim was walking with his live-in partner on their way to get the jeepney that Zalazar was renting, when they met a man armed with a .45 cal. pistol.

The unidentified man  shot Zalazar several times, hitting him twice in the chest and once in his leg and neck before fleeing.

Zalazar was already dead by the time police arrived at the crime scene.  They recovered four empty .45 cal. shells.

Maglangit added that they are looking into the possibility that the killing was borne out of a grudge, they have yet to question his live-in partner about the incident.  - Queenie Chariz Dayanan, CNU intern/BRP
