2 caught for stabbing, hitting drunk neighbor

A 58-year-old woman and her son-in-law were arrested after stabbing and hitting a drunk neighbor around 5 p.m. last Sunday in barangay Tejero.

Rogelio Flores, 42, of sitio Riverside, Tejero, came home drunk last Sunday and heard neighbor Maria Agad talk ill about him.

Investigation revealed that Flores owed money to Agad’s son-in-law, Ruben Arello, 34.

Flores got angry at what he heard and went to Agad’s house, an argument quickly ensued between them. Witnesses said Flores later pushed Agad who grabbed a knife and stabbed his wrist in return.

Arello saw what was happening and ran to his mother-in-law’s rescue and struck Flores’ forehead with a wooden stick.

Flores fled and ran to the Tejero Barangay Hall and informed the barangay tanods of what took place. The tanods later came to arrest the two who came along peacefully.

Flores was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment.

PO3 Julius Mabunay of the Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section said Flores’ neighbors claimed he was often drunk and made a habit of borrowing money from many people. — Trex Eden Ignacio, UP intern/BRP
