Man sitting on a bench shot to death in Lorega

A still unidentified assailant yesterday dawn shot dead a man who was sitting on a concrete bench near an alley at barangay Lorega-San Miguel.

Homicide investigators identified the victim as 44-year-old Danny Magallanes, a resident of the barangay.

Magallanes sustained gunshot wounds in his abdomen, chest, and leg. He was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician there.

Initial investigation showed that the gunman, who was between 5’2" and 5’5" tall, and wearing a black jacket and white pants at the time, arrived at the scene on a red Honda XRM motorcycle.

The gunman pulled out a 9mm cal. pistol and shot Magallanes several times without warning, investigators said.

The police found four empty 9mm cal. shells at the crime scene. They are still conducting a follow-up operation on the case.  — Queenie Chariz Dayanan/RAE
