3 killed in separate vehicular accidents

At least three people, including a four-year-old boy, were killed in separate vehicular accidents in two towns the other day.

The first incident, which killed a boy, happened at 7:45 a.m. along the national highway of Poblacion, Sibonga town.

Denvic Aldava, a resident of the town, was accidentally hit by an Isuzu Elf bearing plate number GKB 931 owned by Benjamin Villacorta and was driven by Juan Anecito Dicdican, 55.

Investigation conducted by the Sibonga police revealed that the vehicle was bound for Cebu City from Mantalongon, Dalaguete town.

 The driver said that Aldava suddenly crossed the road and he wasn’t able to control the vehicle, which eventually hit the boy.

The victim was rushed to the Deiparine Medical Clinic, but was transferred later to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

However, Aldava died an hour later while being treated due to severe head and body injuries.

Meanwhile, Dicdican, the driver of the vehicle, surrendered to the police station.

The other vehicular accident happened in front of the St. Augustine Catholic Church along the national highway of Alcantara town late afternoon the other day.

Two men were killed when a motorcycle they were riding bearing plate XW 9808 collided with a Ceres Bus Liner. They were reportedly stuck underneath the bus.

The vehicle was driven by Arnulfo Mariñas, 23, who was with Keith Mark Sabillo, 17. The two, both residents of Palanas, Alcantara, were declared dead on the spot by muni-cipal health officer, Dr. Loreta Lagada, due to severe injuries.

Police investigation revealed that the Ceres Bus, driven by Ramil Miramon, 33, was bound for Santander when it collided with the motorcycle.

The investigation showed that it was the motorcycle which also veered onto the wrong lane. Nobody from among the bus passengers was reported injured. —  Princess Mondejar, CNU intern/MEEV
