CPDRC dancing inmates to perform on Saturday

The internationally-famous dancing inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center will be performing once again this Saturday.

This time their show is dedicated to champions of peace like Dr. Jose Rizal, Princes Diana, Mahathir Gandhi and Pope John Paul II, among others.

“Dancing is a non-violent way of rehabilitation and we are now paying tribute to peace heroes,” said Capitol consultant on security matter and the overseer of the dancing inmates Byron Garcia.

Their dance to Bonnie Tyler’s hit “I need a Hero” will be the highlight of Saturday’s show.

Garcia said local and foreign tourists are expected to witness the dance show.  CPDRC can accommodate 300 spectators.

Garcia added that donations collected from the spectators goes directly to the saving accounts of the 1,500 inmates.

Following their world-famous video dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, the inmates were featured once again over CNN for dancing to “U can’t Touch This” by popular rappers Soulja Boy and MC Hammer.

The dancers were also featured in newspapers and magazines around the world.  Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/BRP
