Students vow to vote “green-minded” bets
Students from different schools and universities, joined by various organizations, yesterday went to the Commission on Elections office to register for the next elections.
But the city Comelec has yet to open the registration of voters because the national office has not yet given the go-signal. Election officer Marchel Sarno said as soon as the national office gives the signal to open the registration, he will immediately inform the public. The registration will start probably in July.
Cinches said they will try to evaluate the policies made by the officials who are planning to run for the next election, whether or not these policies destroy the environment and if these policies implemented are promoting environment conservation.
Cinches and other environment advocates urged the people to choose government officials who promote environmental conservation.
Wilbert Dimol, spokesman of the Panaghiusa sa mga Gagmayng Mangingisda sa Sugbo, expressed his dismay in the government for not acting on the issues affecting the environment.
He also said that the government is making laws that harm and even destroy the environment. — Junel Joe Gato and Jo-ana Marie Desuyo, CNU interns/BRP
