A man was stabbed dead in barangay San Roque yesterday dawn then, 40 minutes after, another man was stabbed and wounded in barangay Labangon.
In the first incident, 42-year-old Frederico Teves, of barangay Lagtang in Talisay City, was found dead in a poorly lighted place on Palma Street of barangay San Roque.
Teves body had several stab wounds, and homicide investigators said he was on his way home when attacked by three unidentified men.
The next stabbing incident took place on Katipunan Street in barangay Labangon where 38-year-old Julius Pilarca was stabbed while having a drinking session with friends in a wake that they attended.
Homicide investigator, SPO1 Rogelio Nedamo, said that Pilarca tried to control an already unruly drunken man, identified only as Jorge, who joined the drinking spree with an unidentified man.
Jorge, instead of heeding the advice of Pilarca, got angry and confronted the latter over the matter. Pilarca countered by punching Jorge in the face but the latter’s unidentified companion pulled out an icepick and stabbed Pilarca several times.
Pilarca, hit in the abdomen and left hand, ran quickly to his house. He was later rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center while Jorge and the unidentified companion quickly fled the area. — Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
