Filipino-Iranian killed in brgy Ermita shooting

A Filipino-Iranian was shot dead outside the Unit 3 Carbon Market in barangay Ermita yesterday dawn.

Parhad Panahandeh, 26, of barangay Pardo, was killed instantly after being shot several times in the head while his friend Wilmar Sadora, 19, was shot in the left arm and lower part of his chest but survived.

Police said Panahandeh and Sadora were riding on a motorcycle when another man on a motorcycle passed by and shot at them with a .45 cal. pistol.

Panahandeh fell and was still straddling the motorcycle when the police came. Sadora was still able to run to the Carbon police station to ask for help and was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center.

Investigators found three .45 cal. shells at the crime scene and the backpack of Panahandeh that contained a .45 cal. pistol with magazine and live rounds, handcuffs, a cellphone, a silver bracelet and drug paraphernalia.

They also recovered from Panahandeh’s wallet the ID card of a policeman, PO1 Chester Sagaldia, who was formerly assigned to the Fuente Police Station but has been absent without official leave for some time now.

The police are now looking into the incident, and one of the leads they are considering is the victim’s possible involvement in the sale of illegal drugs.  — Queenie Chariz Dayanan, CNU-Intern with Garry B. Lao/BRP
