DOH will launch today health program for kids

The Department of Health regional office announced that, starting today April 14 up to April 18, the Garantisadong Pambata program will be carried out in barangay health centers nationwide where vitamin A and deworming medicines will be distributed to preschoolers.

DOH regional director Susan Madarietta said that there will also be immunizations, and breastfeeding education to lactating mothers. The program is a health package that has been designed to raise the survival rate of children, five years old and below, she said.

"Garantisadong Pambata" program is a nationwide preschoolers health campaign, which will be conducted twice a year, the first one of which will be this week and the second will be on October 13.

The program consists of strategies for child survival, to be taught to mothers and guardians, such as pregnancy and post delivery health methods, caring of the newborns, breastfeeding, immunization and deworming of children and birth spacing. – Ferliza C. Contratista/RAE
