A man who reportedly robbed a female collector of a money-lending firm was mauled by bystanders in barangay Lower Calajo-an, Minglanilla town the other day.
Police Senior Inspector Romeo Santander, the chief of Minglanilla Police Station, identified the suspect as 30-year-old Vic Enore Plarisan of barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
The victim was identified as 20-year-old Murriel Lhea Murillo of barangay Pooc, Talisay City who works as collector for Dungganon Micro Finance, Inc. located in barangay Tunghaan, Minglanilla.
Santander said that the police were roving in the area when they noticed a commotion. Later, they found out that Plarisan was mauled by bystanders.
According to the initial investigation, Murillo was walking in the area after collecting money from lendees when Plarisan appeared and suddenly punched her on the right cheek. Plarisan then grabbed her bag which contained P15,500.
“Kay gidiretso ma’g sukmag ang aping sa biktima, natumba intawon; dayon gibunlot ang iyang bag nga naa’y sulod nga kwarta gikan sa koleksyon,” Santander said.
Murillo managed to shout for help which alerted bystanders who gave Plarisan a chase that eventually led to his arrest.
