Members of religious groups in Cebu, including the Islamic faith, and the academe have set to hold an interfaith rally tomorrow.
The gathering, which will be the second time in three months, is part of the activity of the newly formed multi-sector group, Cebuanos for Truth or C4T, which will carry the battlecry, “Tama Na! Sobra Na! Wakasan Na!” starting tomorrow’s prayer rally.
Among the participants to the interfaith rally are representatives from Jesus Is Lord Movement, Citichurch, New Life Christian Center, and the Muslim community in the city.
The C4T group said that its members have agreed to the proposition that President Gloria Arroyo should go, but said they would still discuss the means of replacing her.
Pastor Abel Baclayon, of Bangon Pilipinas, said C4T will not call for the immediate resignation of Arroyo, but would go for exhausting first all facts and evidences on the ZTE-NBN deal.
“A mass action is already the last resort when we see that circumstances are leading to the covering of the truth,” Baclayon said.
Pastor Carlos Muncada, of JILM-Bangon Pilipinas, said the religious sector could not just sit and watch things happen, and it is time to come out and make a stand.
“God is concerned of the affairs of men so we are uniting to call upon the Lord since the things that are happening now could no longer be tolerated. If we will not deal with the evil today, our children will suffer,” Muncada said.
Fr. Max Abalos, a Catholic priest, said religious representatives are setting aside their differences in faith and culture and are united for the call to uphold the truth. They would also pray for the protection of Rodolfo Lozada and Dante Madriaga, two witnesses in the Senate hearing of the ZTE controversy that have hounded the Arroyo administration, said Abalos. — Ferliza C.
