Man hacks drunk brother during heated argument
A heated argument over excessive drinking led to a man hacking his own brother in the head in barangay Ilaya, Ronda town, the other night.
The victim was identified as Rex Gemagan, 20, while the
suspect was his elder brother Renato, 28.
According to the investigation conducted by Ronda policeman PO3 Juan Capacio, the victim was drunk when he arrived home around
Renato, who was using a bolo to cut a fruit on the table at the time, told Rex that since he was the one who had gone out of the house that he should be the one bringing food back and not the other way around.
“Nangayo man og panihapon ang manghod pero gitubag kini sa magulang nga mas maayo unta og nagdala siya og pagkaon hinungdan nga nasuko ang manghod. Diha nagsugod ang ilang panaglalis,” Capacio said.
An argument ensued and Renato got angry and hacked the victim on his head. He later surrendered himself to the police saying he was not able to control his temper at the time.
Capacio said the two brothers are living in their house
with their father as their mother was already dead. Rex allegedly has no job and keeps on asking money from Renato for food or alcohol.
But yesterday, the suspect was released from the detention cell of the Ronda police station after Rex signed a waiver that he is not pursuing a case against his brother.
Meanwhile, a 56-year-old man, who works as a driver of the Ronda municipal government was shot dead by still unidentified men while he was about to take a bath yesterday around 5 a.m.
Moses Morales, a resident of barangay Canabojon, Ronda, sustained three gunshot wounds to the head and right shoulder, and was killed instantly.
Capacio said the victim was heading to the bathroom outside his house when the men, who had apparently been lying in wait for him, opened fire.
Police recovered eight slugs from .45 cal. rounds from the crime scene. No motive has been established and police are now looking for the perpetrators. — Garry B. Lao/BRP
