Gwen, PB members going to Korea for coop pact

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Provincial Board members  Peter John Calderon, Wilfred Caminero, Agnes Magpale, Victor Maambong, Wenceslao Gakit and Juan Bolo leave for South Korea today for the signing of the sister-cooperation agreement between Cebu province and Gangwon province.

The Cebu officials were invited by the Gangwon’s government officials for the official signing of the cooperation pact on February 20 in the Korean city of Chun Cheon by Garcia and Gangwon Governor Kim Jin Sun.

The cooperation agreement will include a working-level meeting of officials from both sides over matters of cooperation, coordination and implementation.

The two provinces intend to carry out activities in industry, agriculture, science and technology, culture, education and sports, among others.

In South Korea, Garcia and her PB officials will also meet in Seoul with top executives of the Korea Electric Power Corp., which has investments in Naga City.

Meanwhile, officials of the Doosan Heavy Industries are set to come here for the inspection of the site in Naga City where the company will build the KEPCO power plant.

Garcia and some Cebu mayors are also scheduled to travel to Guam by April for a promotional campaign of Cebu in time for the First Pacific Mayor’s Conference that will be hosted by that US territory. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/RAE
