Cops arrest wanted man from Balamban

A 22-year-old man who is wanted for murder and rape cases in Balamban town last year has been captured at a private subdivision in barangay Bacayan, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Rogelio Clarin was arrested by Talamban Police Station operatives led by Sr. Insp. Danilo Escober based on two arrest warrants - issued by Toledo City Regional Trial Court Judge Gaudenio Villarin for the murder case, and Judge Cesar Estrera for the rape case.

Clarin did not resist arrest and is now detained at the Talamban Police Station stockade. A relative of his alleged murder victim saw Clarin in Bacayan and this prompted the victim’s family to report his presence to the city policemen who, in turn, contacted the Balamban policemen for more details about the suspect.

The Talamban police then received from Balamban copies of the arrest warrants against Clarin, and confirmed that he has been residing in the subdivision for about a month already.

After Clarin was arrested, SPO1 Alex Abella told reporters that the suspect was not alone in the killing of Armando Tribunalo in Balamban last year. His four companions —Zabero Patigas, Pede Patigas, Leonilo Clarin and Orbano Clarin were already arrested and detained at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center. — Garry B. Lao/RAE
