The 1,500 computer units and 500 units of scanners and printers were purchased from World Computers, Inc. in cooperation with the Peace Corps Volunteers.
Distribution of said equipment is part of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia’s 12-point program on Information and Communications Technology which aims to complete the targeted 10 computers for each public high school in the province.
The province has a total of 202 public high schools with 120,344 students for school year 2007-2008.
The ICT Program is in partnership with the Gearing-up Internet Literacy and Access for Students Program and the Central Visayas Information Sharing Network.
GILAS provides connectivity through servers and Internet access, while CVISNET covers repairs and other technical assistance.
